Working with “The Mask” in Gestalt: Between the True and False Self

Working with “The Mask” in Gestalt: Between the True and False Self

Working with “The Mask” in Gestalt: Between the True and False Self

Each day, we bring a mask into the world: shaping how we are seen, how we protect ourselves, and how we make contact with others. In a Gestalt perspective, the mask is not something to remove, but a creative adjustment that once served a meaningful purpose.
This experiential workshop invites participants to explore how the mask takes form in the here and now, through the body, in contact and in relationship.

Working in pairs and in the group, we will engage in phenomenological observation, mirroring and guided experiments.
Particular attention will be given to the tension between authenticity and adaptation, vulnerability and control.
The aim is to make the mask visible and flexible, supporting greater choice, presence, and relational awareness.
