4-year advanced training in Gestalt therapy in Arabic/German/English
With focus on flight/migration/trauma
Psychological and social problems are often resulting from a lack of good contact and nurturing relationships. This is particularly true for the situation of people who have experienced flight and migration with often traumatising events. In this training we focus specifically on the experiences of refugees and migrants and their reorientation in Germany.
Gestalt therapy devotes its attention to these disorders and examines the interpersonal events that have become dysfunctional and cause suffering. The therapeutic relationship is seen as an essential factor of healing. In this relational space, the self-healing powers are activated by stimulating the client’s conscious awareness of feelings, sensations, behaviors, and attitudes, and by inviting to experiment with new possibilities. The goal of Gestalt therapy is to help people achieve the ability to establish contact and relationship skills, self-determination and responsibility, and to strengthen their self.
This process can also be seen as an aesthetic one – beauty expresses an inner coherence with what is felt as a deep personal truth that has an effect beyond the moment of experience. We usually consider things that we have experienced both sensually and coherently to be touching, liberating, meaningful and strengthening. Therefore, in our workshops we offer learning through sensual experience in creative processes of self-exploration and engagement with others.
In this training we will cooperate with Dr. Mouta Barakat, psychologist and Gestalt therapist and Lydia Barakat, psychologist and trauma therapist.
