4 year advanced training in Gestalt therapy

With focus on flight/migration/trauma

Psychological and social problems are often the result of a lack of supportive good relationships and an environment that promotes their own development. This is especially true for the situation of people who have experienced flight and migration with often traumatising events. In this training, we particularly address the specific experiences of refugees and migrants and their reorientation in Germany.
In Gestalt therapy, the term “creative adaptation” refers to the process in which the individual balances his or her needs with the demands of society. In the case of refugees, this process is extremely difficult and often leads to either over-adaptation at the expense of individual needs or a lack of adaptation to social conditions, which can lead to social problems and tensions.
Gestalt therapy addresses these tensions, which can be expressed individually in psychological and somatic disorders or in social problems such as isolation, avoidance, increased aggression, etc., and examines the events that have led to dysfunctional adaptation and cause suffering.
The therapeutic relationship is seen as an essential factor in this healing process. The therapeutic relationship should offer security and reliability and provide orientation. In this relational space, self-healing forces are activated by exploring the client’s conscious awareness of feelings, sensations, behaviours and attitudes and inviting them to experiment with new possibilities. The aim of Gestalt therapy is to help people regain their resonance and relational capacity, self-determination and responsibility, and to strengthen their self so that creative adaptation can succeed.
